Scareware marketing
We are getting reports from customers of phone calls from a company called SupportonClick - and sometimes they say they are Microsoft support, sometimes Malwarebytes - telling people their computers are hacked, and they need to buy a piece of software to fix it.This scam is apparently spreading all over the world, fast. H-Security reports that scammers phone up to warn victims that their PCs are infected and might become damaged beyond repair unless they purchase security software of questionable utility. The sales technique is aggressive and full-on.
